Frequently Asked Questions

In schools, students have no say on whether their teachers are really good at teaching. If they are lucky, they get experienced teachers who are effective in teaching. If they are unlucky, they get fresh NIE graduates with mediocre subject knowledge! This has led to many problems, notably lack of interest in the subject, difficulty in catching up and eventually, poor grades.

So many of my students have complained that their teachers do not know how to teach, or cannot reach out to the big group of students. As a result, their understanding dips.

It is very apparent in Physics as the subject require strong fundamentals and basics, before students can go on to tackle the hard problems.

01 Why should I get a tutor?

I am an honours graduate from NTU, with more than 8 years experience in tutoring Physics.

I have scored A1 for Physics in O levels, and A for Physics in the A levels. Moreover, I have also scored distinctions for all Physics related modules in university.

I have an unquenchable passion for Physics, and hence will frequently read up science magazines and articles. I especially love 'Popular Mechanics' and 'Scientific American', and frequently feature and discuss articles from them on the blog.

05 Who is the physics tutor?

I have helped many students turn around their grades from Cs and low Bs to As. Being very familiar with the O level syllabus, I know techniques and hints for students to tackle examination questions.

I am able to explain concepts simply, so that students can grasp and understand the pieces of the Physics jigsaw puzzle. The subject is NEVER about memorising and practising, but more of understanding.

I have a passion for Physics, and to relate real life observable phenomena to the subject. I hope to inculcate in my students the passion for Physics!

02 Why should we choose you?
06 Is there a trial lesson?

Yes, the first lesson is a trial lesson. I am confident enough to provide all new students with trials, so that they get a feel of the style of teaching, as well as the learning environment.

Students have no obligation to continue after the first session, if they somehow do not like it. This is my guarantee to you!

There are 2 different school of thoughts here. 1-1 would be better if the student is failing badly. Being in a group setting, with like minded peers, provides very positive motivation for the student to improve.

A large class setting, on the other hand, would mean each student receives very little attention from the tutor.

Therefore, the best compromise would lie in a small group setting, where individual attention can be provided, while still maintaining the group synergy amongst like minded peers.

03 Group Tuition or 1-to-1 Tuition?

The majority of my students scored distinction in Physics. Most students experience a huge jump in grades with a few months of lessons.

However, tuition is NEVER a one way effort. The student themselves have to put in their effort. If they DO put in the effort, the improvement will be stellar!
